Build Your Own Social Network

So you want to teach your students how to navigate the dangers, yet explore the advantages, of an online social network - but you don't want to have all your students make their own MySpace or Facebook accounts for this purpose?  Then make your own that you moderate.

Just log on to http://www.ning.com.  From this site, you can create your own online social network, and can teach your students the proper etiquette for interaction online.  You'll be the moderator, and can set the network to "private" so that the entire world will not be able to see student profiles nor interact with your class.  Just make sure you receive approval from your supervisors or district before embarking on the experiment.
