Clean It Out
If you have a laptop/notebook computer, or even if you have a desktop that sits on a carpeted floor, you might want to disconnect all the wires from it an take it in for a good cleaning...an internal cleaning, that is. This isn't virus protection or "cleaning off the hard drive" - this is honest to goodness physical "dusting."
Fans that are inside your computer cool the processor so that it doesn't overheat. Sometime you can feel a blast of hot air come from the side of your computer. But if there's exhaust, there has to be intake somewhere, and, sadly, most computers don't have air filters. So, as their fans are sucking in air, they're also sucking in dust, lint, and other small particulates (dust mites perhaps) that will build up on the inside of your computer, and impede your computer's performance. Think about it - these things are made in dust-free environments where white anti-static suits are worn...and then we fire them up on desks that are sometimes never dusted or store the CPUs on carpeted surfaces that aren't vacuumed.
Gives new meaning to having a bug in your computer.
