Neat Receipts - Part 1

Every day, it seems like there's something new that's developed to help simplify our lives.  This is one of those things!  Neat Receipts is a product that I saw advertised in FAST COMPANY Magazine, but really didn't pay much attention to it until a member of our sales team started using it and saying how simpler it made his life.  He no longer has to save all his receipts from his road trips until he gets home to scan them.  Now he's able to scan them, as well as business cards, while he's "cleaning up" for the day.  Then when it comes time to prepare his expense statements, he doesn't have to spend hours scanning every receipt for submission.

After finding out more about it, I discovered this device comes in two sizes...one primarily for receipts, but the other is large enough to scan a sheet of paper (8 1/2 inches wide, so one can use either 8 1/2 x 11 or 8 1/2 x 14).  A portable document scanner, for just a little more than what a stand-alone "plug it in at home" scanner goes for?  I have to get one of these so I can store my receipts in a file electronically too!  The company I work for doesn't put Adobe Acrobat on the computers, so every scan from my at home scanner is a tif (a huge file), which then needs to be converted into a jpg...a process that takes time.  It wouldn't be bad if the conversion process could save a multiple page scan - but it can't.  It can only save single tifs as jpgs, making the process all that more tedious.

I had to try it...it sounds too good to be true.

Part two comes your way next week (and you can probably already feel there's a "but" coming on....)
