Screenshots

Has anyone ever said, "Send me a screenshot," and you wonder what they're talking about?

A "Screenshot" is a picture of what you are actually seeing on your display.  Sometimes a helpdesk or other IT professional will want to see what's contained in an error message you're receiving so they can help to diagnose a problem.  Sometimes you may want to create a tutorial and show what the learner can expect to see on their computer display.  Sometimes you may want to save what's on your computer display for future reference.

All you need to do is press the Control key ("Ctrl") at the same time you press the Print Screen  key ("PrtSc").  A picture of what's on the computer screen is stored on your clipboard.  Then, open a Word document or an email and click somewhere on it.  By right clicking and choosing "paste" (or depressing "Crrl" and "V" simultaneously), a "Screenshot" will be pasted to your document.  Then you can save it for later use or email it to your helpdesk personnel.
